I'm a grade 4-7 multi-age STEAM classroom teacher and I am also a vice principal in Surrey, BC.  I am also a blogger and co-author of The Genius Hour Guidebook.

I love teaching and I love technology, and I am on a mission to integrate the two so that my students (and their students) are getting the best learning experience possible!  Technology evolves so quickly though, so I am finding myself in a new position: that of learner alongside of all my young learners.  I am realizing that I am no longer required to be the expert in the room, but rather the facilitator, building relationships with my students and encouraging them to figure things out for themselves...to be, like me, a life long learner!

This realization has spilled over into every area of teaching for me and has led me on a journey that is not just focused on technology anymore. I am also very interested in passion-based learning and inquiry-based learning, which is probably why I LOVE Genius Hour so much--it is a great combination of them both!

For more information about Genius Hour, please check out the collaborative blog: geniushour.ca, the collaborative wiki: geniushour.wikispaces.com, and the book I just recently co-wrote: The Genius Hour Guidebook.

I am passionate about #geniushour.  Besides writing the book, I also founded and moderate the #geniushour chat on Twitter. You can learn more about our twitter chat at www.geniushour.wikispaces.com and you can find me on twitter at @gallit_z.  I was very honoured to be picked as Routledge EOE's Author of the Month in November, 2015.
