I started off my
baseline portfolio
on facebook, because we were told to use what is
comfortable.
Facebook is comfortable for me
But...
then I learned how to make a class website
and so my portfolio volume II is now on weebly...but here are some screen shots of what my baseline looked like (click on thumbnails on right)

Well, we have been back to school for a bit now, and I am really enjoying it! I love the talks we have about the readings & I love the smaller group talks about our field studies too...so great to just sit around with a few other teachers and talk about teaching...I love it! I really do...I wish there was more time in the week to do it even more :)
I am thankful for this aspect of our program...it really gives me the time to learn from others!!
I also love to mentor others:
I taught a pro d a couple of weeks ago at my school :)
It was great...I led my colleagues through the steps in creating a weebly and showed them my class website & basically showed them how easy it is to maintain a class site and how beneficial it can be in communicating with parents/students...the staff loved it and so many more classes now have class sites too! yay!
Sept 20:
well, life is back to normal now...I have my class and we have had two sfu classes now...i like normal. routine is great and i am super happy with being back to it all.
Goes to show how important routine truly is...I do better with it and I know my student
my website is up and running...the kids are using it...but I don't think the parents are. I haven't had any messages from them yet anyhow and Sarah and Marianne both have...so that is a bit weird...I think the field study will go well though...

great class today. We had an interesting discussion about education in the morning, and I was unusually quiet. I am usually a talker, and like to get involved in discussions, but today was happy to just sit back and listen to the others.
Then after that, we looked at google docs and experimented with that program. I have never used google docs but have heard about it and actually was planning on using it with my students this year already, so I was glad we covered it today.
I actually had already gone ahead and started to open many gmail accounts thinking I could assign them them to the kids, so I was happy to learn today that they can use their first class emails to open their own accounts. This was news to me...and I was glad since gmail let me open 10 Mrs. Zvi accounts and then started to get really suspicious of me and blocked me for the rest of the night. So, if I just let them use their own accounts..then that should work. I wonder if it is okay to let students open new accounts? I need to ask around....because there are so many 2.0 apps that I am going to want to use with my class this year. Can't wait!
We also watched the "Hole in the Wall" video and did a walk+talk about it. I like walk+talks...too bad my grades 5s and 6s would probably go way off topic if I asked them to do it.

I am going to use wordles with my class next year as an 'All About Me' activity at the start of the year...I think it will be really fun. They can put their names down a few times to make it big and then all the things they like.
Have since found out that I like tagxedo.com way better! Same as wordle but you can save/print much easier!!! And you can do shaped ones too...not just clouds

Up until today I have felt like I always had a good grasp of what we were doing and that I already kinda knew what we were doing before we actually did it...even if I didn't know everything about the programs i had the gist or at least some sort of prior knowledge to build on. Today was a bit different...
My first attempt to make a prezi was frustrating...up until now I always caught on fairly quickly & actually now that I think about it I think I know a lot more about tech then I gave myself credit for (for example, I have been finding myself helping others) but today we learned about Prezi and I found it quite frustrating at first...BUT after Lisa helped me figure it out I understand it now! And really like it now too!
I geuss sometimes tech time isn't enough..sometimes I need to have things explained to me!
On a side note...we also learned about dropbox today...I had not ever heard of it before & I LOVE it...totally using it from now on & I recommend it to everyone!!!
May 23, 2011: Started with tech time (great idea). Learned Survey Monkey (will use mine with my class to survey about field trips). The thing that stuck out the most for me today was when Marlow talked about giving ourselves time to just play on the computer and figure things out, just for fun...I should do more of that...using different things not because I need to do them but just mess around with different applications. Still feeling good :D
So, I'm thinking...if I love tech time & think it helps me as a learner...than why not give it to my students too...I think I should.
Oh, and I like Survey Monkey a lot...check it out

Had our 1st class. Feel good (but I have a cold) I think I can do this. We did the circle activity and I felt like I could walk toward the centre a lot. I don't know HTML and other things Marlow brought up, but I can figure stuff out. I will watch YouTube videos and learn...I can learn, just need to find the time... I am happy that Marianne and Sarah are doing this with me. Lots of helpful people in the class. Nothing feels too scary right now Can't wait to do more next week :D

Once upon a time we were told to put together a portfolio of our feelings, experiences and what nots...we were told to use whatever we feel comfortable with...I chose facebook (because I <3 it)...but through my first field study I have leared how much I love weebly....and so I have decided to change my baseline portfolio from facebook to a weebly website. I will begin transferring my posts soon. Stay tuned...
