 Explore educational theories, research and philosophies to inform the use of technology to support teaching and learning

I have not had much growth in this area, to be honest.  I tend to just jump right into using new technologies  based on my own curiosities or the advice of others (colleagues or on twitter), and I don't often look into research until afterwards.  I wonder if I should be doing this the other way around? 
Maybe for my next field study?
